I was looking at different ways to save on insurance the other day. I know about finding cheaper auto insurance, especially with all the TV commercials and internet ads out there. I also know about finding cheaper medical and life insurance. It didn’t hit me that I could also save on homeowners insurance just as easily.

Hmm, it looks like I need to add that to my budget saving plan and increase my household savings.

It’s hard to figure out what is a better business arrangement, retail or wholesale. If you are a retailer then you can decide your prices and you deal directly with the end consumer. On the other hand, if you are a wholesaler then you deal with other businesses. You can set your prices at a level that they will pay on the assumption of the profit that they will make.
I don’t know which is easier, but if I have a choice to shop at a wholesaler or a retailer, I know where I will get better prices.

I was talking to a friend who is getting ready to start college in the fall. She was worried about the high cost of textbooks being a deterrent to her studying. I told her not to worry too much because at the end of the semester, she can sell used books that she used and get back some of the money she spent on all of her books.

That’s just one idea to save money. What about you all? Do you have any ways ways to save money in college?

I was looking at wedding favors the other day, no please don’t ask, and I was surprised at how they have changed over the years. They have become an absolute essential in a wedding and help people really remember the great time they had. It seems like every wedding has them anymore and you can’t not have them.

All of this makes me wonder about the ceremony itself. How much has its importance changed over time? Is it just important today or ?

Store or Mine?

A friend of mine was talking about going out to Arkansas this summer to do some diamond mining at some state park out there. According to him, some people actually find some big diamonds there. While it does sound like a lot of fun, I think it might not be so cool to tell a girl that you got her a diamond in Arkansas. It just doesn’t sound as romantic as getting her a diamond in the jewelry store.
