Friend Feed

I have been doing a little bit of work lately on trying to find new ways to connect with friends and new ways to handle all of the RSS feeds that I have at my disposal. It’s hard to keep track of them, much less use them on a regular basis. This is why I just love my specially made Friend Feed.

Friend Feed is an exciting way to keep track of all of your feed and then be able to share them with other people. It’s a great way to connect with other people and a great way to disseminate information and articles that you’ve written.

I am looking forward to adding even more of my feeds to my Friend Feed over the next few days. I know I can add many of my social bookmarks as well as many of the niche sites that I am running. It should be great.

Check out my friend feed here:

Anti Spam Tool For Small Businesses

Spam is major problem these days. Not only are they unwanted emails, but they are also emails filled with viruses, trojans, phishing attempts and unwanted images. It’s not surprising that email protection is an important part of any business, whether it is web based or based in the brick and mortar world.

Barracuda is considered to be the best spam filtering solution available for email, but before it has been a tough system to manage for small and medium sized business. Only big businesses have been able to benefit from the Barracuda Spam firewall. Not anymore. Hosted Barracuda solutions from Perimetec have opened up the spam filtering awesomeness of Barracuda to business large and small.

I knew spam is expensive, but I never knew just how expensive it was before I checked out the Perimetec Spam cost calculator. It’s a real eye opener, but once you start to think about it, you realize just how true it is. So much time every day is wasted on spam.

I think Perimetec’s Hosted Barracuda solution is a great idea. Small businesses can sign on to have Perimetec host their email on their servers where they can keep everything working well and keep spam from ever hitting their company’s servers. It’s a very positive solution for just a few dollars a month.

Buying A New Cellphone

Wow. It’s that time again. It’s time to buy a new cellphone. I love shopping for new cellphones because there are always new features coming out quite often. It’s great because the more features available, the more useful the phone is.

Another great thing is that as these new features come out, the prices stay the same. I can get a much better phone today for the same price that I could get a pretty lousy phone for a few years back.

The upshot is that this time around, I will be getting a phone that can double as an MP3 player and camera. Wow. It’s like three mobile devices in one.

Windows Vista: Making Things More Secure

Don’t you hate the way computers always bog down at the most inopportune times? I hate it when I am doing something very important and the computer either bogs down on something or shuts down all together. Another big problem with computers is the spyware, trojans and viruses that permeate systems.

I remember managing a computer lab at a school I taught at a couple of years ago. The students would be able to install programs and trojans on the computers as well as viruses and before long the entire room consisted of a bunch of expensive bricks. Imagine trying to teach a lesson to a class full of students only to find out that most of the computers are unusable. That was was something that happened much too often. The only way to do away with the damage was to format and reinstall Windows XP. It was a whole day job once or twice a term. Still, I stood beside Windows XP.

Now, after checking out Windows Vista, I see some real benefits from Windows Vista, over Windows XP and other non Windows operating systems. Security problems are now a thing of the past. It’s possible to control who can install a program. I am not working at the school anymore, but I can assume that when they adopt Vista, they’ll get a huge reduction in the amount of work needed to manage the computer lab since students won’t be able to install system eating programs at will.

I have been using Windows Vista for a few weeks now and I love it. It does everything I need it to do and then some. Not to mention that it looks great now. I haven’t had to use the customer service yet, but I assume that it’s awesome. Imagine being able to easily get the help you need? The customer service aspect doesn’t just extend to paid customer service either. The amount of help available online is simply phenomenal.

GPS Tracking Is Now A Reality

Technology is getting more clever each and every. I remember years ago, I have a handheld GPS receiver. It was great to track where I was and even my speed. It was kind of rudimentary, but it worked well enough for my uses.

Now things have really changed. You can get a GPS tracking device that can track where the device is, no matter where it is. LiveViewGPS is awesome. It keeps track of its location and every 10 seconds it uploads its location to the web where you can view it in real time. Imagine the possibilities of this great technology. Put it in your car and you’ll where your car is at any moment. Hmm, sounds good.
