My mom was asking me about censorship and the FCC for a class she is taking at Uni. God bless her for going back to the university to get her Masters degree. The question she was talking about was if it is right or wrong for the FCC to censor TV and radio. I am normally against censorship, but I surprised my mom with the answer.
My answer is that we wouldn’t want someone shouting obscenities in a government building, in a school or other publicly owned place. If a drunk guy is cursing in a public park, they will arrest him, so why not in an equally public place, the publicly owned airwaves? It seems to make sense to me. It’s not censorship in a true sense, but rather it is utilizing the public airwaves for the public good.
