They didn’t know?
I have been following the business world lately. It seems that businesses are having so much of a hard time handling the sub prime fiasco. I read yesterday that the Fed was caught off guard and so were banks. I find it very fun because most of us with an brains knew that you couldn’t lend billions to those who couldn’t afford the loans. It is pure stupidity to think that would have been possible, but I guess the big brains in business and the economy are claiming they didn’t know. Oh well, we all pay for their excesses.
What is Universal Value?
This site is entitled Universal Value Exchange but what is universal value anyways? In short, universal value is something that has the same value throughout the world. Here we talk about value in an economic or monetary sense, though other values can and are just as universal.
According to Isaiah Berlin, the noted Political Philosopher, a universal value is thought of as this:
…universal values….are values that a great many human beings in the vast majority of places and situations, at almost all times, do in fact hold in common, whether consciously and explicitly or as expressed in their behaviour…
Ideas can be a universal value, particularly when you begin to think about ideas such as the wheel, fire, bridges, and roads. These are valued no matter where you go and they will always be valued.
Now you know where the universal value comes from.
Taking the Plunge
It looks like I am going to take the plunge and jump into the world of reseller hosting. I have been contemplating it for a few weeks, but I just needed to feel a big push to make it all happen and that I have done . I am going to sign up for reseller account.
Why a reseller account? I have had a VPS for close to 2 years and it serves me well, but I do a lot of experiments on it. I suppose I could add a VPS and set it up for hosting, but I don’t think I really have the demand at this point. In fact, I don’t have a single customer, but I will be adding most of my sites to the reseller account. I want to be able to install things and forget things.
With a VPS, I need to keep on top of things and manage things. I may not care to spend all of my time doing that so it’s better that I get someone else to handle that and with the price of reseller accounts these days, it will be a good buy.
Right now I am trying to figure out who my provider will end up being. I am not sure, so we will see. It’s a fight between two providers.
Any ideas on how to market my new hosting company?
What about Web Hosting?
I have seen some good business opportunities lately and one that has hit me is that I could sell web hosting. I could get a reseller account and then sell web hosting to local business. I could do a complete, front to bottom plan to get them on the net and get them getting hits and making money.
I really think the web is the way forward for people to make money and it’s about time people started doing that. Too many businesses are without a web presence and are not getting the chance to make some seriously good money that web marketing can get them.
Creator vs Destroyer
I have been following some things lately and that is the idea of being a creator vs being a destroyer. I started it on another blog but then realized that this idea is more at home here on this blog for obvious reasons. It’s a high valued idea and it is something we should be exchanging with each other.
I have been pondering this question for quite some time and it looks like it might even turn into a new project. Think about it, you have the power to be a creator in this life and not be a destroyer. You can choose to create rather than be a net consumer. I guess more on this is forthcoming in the next few weeks or months.
