There are several ways to market your website. One way is to improve its search engine rankings. With a good search engine ranking than you can get traffic from the search engines. While it’s just one part of the marketing of your website, it’s one of the most important things you can do.
There are many ways to improve your site in the SERPs. One way is to make sure you use the keywords you are targeting in your content. While this is important, getting links is the sure fire way to get a good ranking. Good ranks are totally dependent on the links you get to your site.
How do you get links? There are many ways to get links these days. It all depends on your budget. If you are cheapo marketer like me, then you focus on way to get them on the cheap. I utilize a three tier method.
First off, I submit to directories. In fact, I love this way and that’s why I have a couple of directories of my own. Do a search and you will find some great directories to submit to. The links usually are approved over the course of a month or more so they take a while to appear so be patient.
Secondly, I write up articles that I submit to article directories. Article directories are a great way to pick up links and traffic. It’s not foolproof but it gets you known and can help you get higher in the SERPs.
Thirdly, I post on forums. If I write something compelling, someone might pick up on it and then write about it on their own site. I’ll get a link and that’s a power link.
I am a link collector. I make it easy for people to link to me. While it isn’t a part of my strategy, whenever I meet someone with a personal site or blog, I ask for a link. More often than not, they’ll give it to me.
