Moving Out of The Home

Sometimes working at home is very productive and it’s nice to be able to spend time with the family, but lately I have been looking at getting office space. At home, it is too distracting to do my work. Even though I am only doing part time work, if I could find an affordable office location, I could be able to make my work time even more productive.

Its hard to tell the kids that Daddy is working. In fact, my youngest says that he is working every time he plays a computer game and even as I write this, he is hanging off of my shoulder making sure my writing is good enough.

Now comes the search for business office space

Is The Commodity Run Over?

It’s interesting, last weekend it looked like the sky was falling down. Bear Stearns was being bought, the credit crunch was on, the dollar was going down fast and gold was the safe haven. But something funny happened. People started to realize that a bottom may have been reached.

What happened? The dollar stabilized and gold shed nearly 10% off of its value in the last few days. It’s leading a pullout in other commodities as well. Many of them have a long ways to go down, but if these trends hold, the economy could be finding itself on a lot more solid footing in the next few months.

If this trend is holding, maybe it is time to get into real estate and other assets that have been pushed down.

E-Commerce

I haven’t really been looking too much into E-commerce sites. Instead I have been focusing on sites that involve just letting people know about the company. It’s like building a basic web presence though I have been approached to build a e-commerce site for a local business so for the first time, I am looking into E-commerce and how to implement a site.

It sure does change the way you look at things, for example, I need to check on shopping carts, secure hosting and more. It seems like the list is long. Any ideas on how I could implement a decent E-commerce site? I think I have something new to research.

Business Web Services

I have been approaching some local businesses on business web services. I think I can provide business web services that could really help out these businesses and help them grow. I have two different projects that I approached two different companies with. Neither of them decided to go with the projects, but I was able to show them a unique solution to their problems.

One thing I am learning to do is to make better presentations and I’m trying to find a way to make people understand the benefits they can get from business web services. I really think they can really see a huge increase in profitability with the right implementation of technology.

Growing a business is like raising a child. In its early days, you have to feed it and nourish it so that it can grow strong. There may be hiccups along the way, but your tender loving care will help it grow stronger and stronger every day. In the early days, it seems like there is a lot of work and only a few benefits, but in time that changes. Your business becomes profitable and and you can even focus on other business areas.

You may even reach a point where the age or size of the business has outgrown your own expertise and you decide to sell it or let it be bought by someone else. It’s all natural, it is the natural path of a growing business.
